Letters and links

A letter is only as private as the link leading to it. Anyone who has the link can open it. We do not share your link, but we also cannot control who you send it to, or who they forward it to. Do not put secrets in a letter that would hurt you if they leaked.

Staff

me+u staff and admins do not read letter content or look at cover photos unless we are tipped off. That usually means someone raised a complaint with us over a letter, or we have a serious safety or legal reason. We do not browse people's letters or photos. We only monitor sender, recipient, letter styling settings and other letter metadata used to get essential data for improving this service.

Photos

Cover photos are optional and only available for signed-in users. Photo letters are for adults. You must be 18 or older to add a photo. That rule is about creating the photo letter, not about checking who opens the link. If you add a photo, you are responsible for that upload and for who you send it to. Do not upload photos with illegal content. Do not send sexual or NSFW photos to anyone under 18. Do not upload sexual images of anyone under 18. We will remove such content as soon as we become aware of it and may report it to relevant authorities.

What you may not do

Do not use me+u to harass, threaten, scam, or spam people. Do not impersonate someone else. Do not try to break the site, scrape letters, harvest links, or probe other people’s accounts. Do not upload malware or junk files dressed up as photos.

Use the website, not the API

The write page, dashboards, and APIs are for people using the site in a browser. Do not call our endpoints directly from scripts, bots, or bulk tools. Do not automate letter creation, photo uploads, or sign-in processes. Do not bypass rate limits, the daily photo cap, or authentication. We can block IPs and remove accounts without notice.

We can remove content

We can delete a letter, a photo, or an account if it breaks these rules, if someone reports it, or if we need to protect the service. We do not have to host everything forever. The site can go down, change, or lose a feature. There is no warranty and no paid SLA.

Reporting

If a letter or photo is harmful or violates these terms, use the Report link on the letter. It opens an email to us with the letter link already filled in. Tell us what is wrong. We will look at it. We will not mediate fights between senders and recipients. Decisions are final.
